Nigeria to host a global summit addressing submarine cable resilience, focusing on securing critical infrastructure and preventing disruptions to global connectivity networks.

Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, has announced the country’s preparations to host the inaugural International Submarine Cable Resilience Summit on February 26-27, 2025. The event will address strategies to safeguard subsea cable infrastructure and prevent service disruptions.

In a pre-summit briefing, Dr. Tijani met with Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to highlight the importance of strengthening global cooperation in securing critical digital infrastructure.

Additionally, the ITU Submarine Cable Resilience Advisory Body, co-chaired by Dr. Tijani and Professor Sandra Maximiano of Portugal’s ANACOM, will hold its first in-person meeting ahead of the summit. The discussions aim to drive actionable solutions for ensuring the stability of global connectivity networks.
