Airtel Africa pledges digital training for 25,000 Nigerians and sponsors tech students in India, supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation and innovation.

Nigeria’s digital economy is a beacon for Africa’s digitization efforts, and Airtel Africa has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the country to accelerate this progress. During a high-level meeting with His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria in Abuja, Airtel Africa Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, KBE, and CEO Sunil Taldar reaffirmed Airtel Africa’s commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth and the country’s digitization efforts.

Mr. Mittal announced the organisation’s support to the President’s 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT) program, pledging the organisation’s support to provide digital skills training for 25,000 young Nigerians across 80 local government areas.

Additionally, he shared that the Airtel Africa Fellowship will sponsor 10 Nigerian students to study tech-focused courses at India’s prestigious Plaksha University, bridging the gap between local talent and global opportunities.

On his part, Mr. Taldar emphasised Airtel Africa’s commitment to advancing the country’s digital economy through strategic investments and partnerships, saying,

Airtel is deeply invested in Nigeria’s digital future. We are expanding our network, driving financial inclusion, and creating opportunities for the people of Nigeria through technology and innovation. Our collaboration with the government through initiatives like the Airtel Africa Fellowship and 3MTT ensures that Nigeria remains at the forefront of Africa’s digital revolution.

– Sunil Taldar, CEO, Airtel Africa

Airtel Africa believes in unlocking Africa’s potential through technology, education, and collaboration and through this important meeting, we’re proud to announce a bold step forward for Nigeria’s digital transformation journey.
