GSMA Africa Leads Discussions on Fiscal Policies and Digital Inclusion at MWC 2025
GSMA Africa drives discussions at MWC on taxation, digital inclusion, and industry collaboration to unlock Africa’s digital growth and economic potential.

At MWC, the GSMA Africa team led pivotal discussions on fiscal policies, digital inclusion, and industry collaboration to accelerate Africa’s digital and economic growth. These included:
- Taxation Roundtable: Addressing the impact of high taxes on connectivity, with a focus on reducing taxation to improve device affordability and promoting financial inclusion through mobile money adoption
- GSMA Digital Africa Index: Insights from the first edition of the GSMA Digital Africa Index web tool were discussed. The tool reveals that countries with strong policies and regulatory frameworks experience higher digital development and there is a need for policy-driven reforms to unlock Africa’s full digital potential.
- Driving Digital Growth of Verticals in Sub-Saharan Africa where discussions centered on cross-sector partnerships to accelerate digital adoption, scalable solutions for MSMEs & industry verticals as well as policy engagement to foster sustainable digital transformation.
National dialogues were also held with delegations from Tanzania and DRC.
