AfriGO and Moniepoint partner to distribute 5 million contactless cards, enhancing financial inclusion and accelerating Nigeria’s transition to a cashless economy.

In a major step toward accelerating digital payment adoption across Nigeria, AfriGO, the National Domestic Card Scheme powered by Afrigopay Financial Services Limited (AFSL), a subsidiary of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Moniepoint Inc. This collaboration will drive the distribution of 5 million AfriGO cards and introduce contactless, tap-to-pay solutions, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to a thriving, cashless economy.

By leveraging Moniepoint’s extensive agent network and robust infrastructure, this partnership will enable seamless, secure, and instant payments. Users will be able to complete transactions by simply tapping or hovering their AfriGO card or Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled devices over a payment terminal or compatible mobile phone.

Our collaboration with Moniepoint aligns with AfriGO’s mission to deepen financial inclusivity and reduce reliance on foreign exchange for card transactions. With AfriGO, businesses and consumers alike benefit from a secure, affordable, and locally-driven payment solution that keeps transaction data within Nigeria, fostering local innovation and empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

– Mrs. Ebehijie Momoh, Managing Director & CEO, Afrigopay Financial Services Ltd. (AFSL)

The AfriGO card is designed to empower merchants, agents, and consumers with features like instant settlement, improved cash flow management, and reduced operational risks. This not only strengthens the payment ecosystem but also enhances business growth and financial inclusion across the country.

Moniepoint’s commitment to deploying 5 million AfriGO cards and facilitating their rapid adoption underscores the shared vision of creating a more connected and inclusive financial ecosystem. Through this partnership, underserved and unbanked communities will gain access to essential banking services, including purchases, deposits, withdrawals, and money transfers, helping to close Nigeria’s financial access gap.

This partnership is not just about distributing cards; it’s about building a future where every Nigerian, regardless of location or background, can participate in the digital economy. Together with Moniepoint, we are unlocking new possibilities for individuals, businesses, and the entire financial sector.

– Mrs. Ebehijie Momoh, Managing Director & CEO, Afrigopay Financial Services Ltd. (AFSL)

As AfriGO and Moniepoint join forces to shape the future of payments in Nigeria, this collaboration stands as a testament to the power of local partnerships in driving sustainable, technology-driven financial solutions. The future of payments is here, and it’s proudly Nigerian.
