Driving Innovation: TEVETA, ZFE, AIZ & STEM Foundation Partner for Workforce Development
TEVETA and partners signed MoUs to enhance skills training, bridge workforce gaps, integrate STEM, and align education with industry demands.

TEVETA, Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE), Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ) and the National STEM Foundation have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at increasing Work Based Learning (WBL) opportunities for students, TEVET programmes relevance and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) uptake by the young people.
Ministery of Technology and Science, Permanent Secretary, Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu, who officiated at the signing ceremony said the three (3) partnerships seek to address skills gaps and mismatches in the country’s labour force.
Partnerships are priority in the 8NDP to meet national aspirations for job and wealth creation in the priority sectors. AIZ is a strategic partner to TEVETA in meeting agriculture sector goals to increase crop production to 10 million metric tonnes and cattle population to 7 million to earn a billion dollars from the sector. Dr. Habeenzu said TEVETA’s MoU with ZFE would ensure that employers shaped the development of programmes that were demand-driven and provided apprenticeships, internships and industrial attachments opportunities to students.

The involvement of the National STEM Foundation further enriches roles of TEVETA in skills development.
As we embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Artificial Intelligence, there is an urgent need to enhance the teaching and application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics across all sectors of the economy, including agriculture.
