Kenya & India Join Forces to Fight Document Fraud with Digital Verification
Kenya partners with India to adopt real-time document verification technology, inspired by India’s DigiLocker, aiming to eliminate certificate forgery.

Hon. William Kabogo the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MICDE) announced that he held productive discussion with a delegation from Indian Government, led by Anish Kumar, Advisor to the India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The Ministry of Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy is adopting a technology platform for instant document authentication to combat forgery.
This follows Kenya’s MoU with India, signed in December 2023, aimed at enhancing digital security and verification processes.
The India Government is implementing a similar initiative and ‘DigiLocker’, a similar platform is in use. We have a multi-sectoral team comprising members from different ministries and stakeholders working on the initiative to ensure it aligns with our laws and is fit for purpose. Document forgery is an issue that we are ready to eliminate using technology and cut down on time used to verify the documents manually.
