Ghana & Italy Strengthen Ties: Digital Skills, Cybersecurity & Innovation in Focus

Ghana and Italy discussed coding programs, digital services, cybersecurity, and youth climate initiatives, reinforcing their commitment to digital transformation.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP) met  with the Italian delegation today to explore potential areas of collaboration.

The meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s office in Accra, aimed to foster stronger partnership between Ghana and Italy in the digital technology sector.

Key areas of discussion included the “One Million Coders Program,” an initiative aimed at training one million Ghanaians in coding skills, and the “GH Forms Project,” which seeks to standardize government forms and services, making it easier for citizens to access services online. The Italian delegation expressed interest in supporting these initiatives.

Cybersecurity was another critical area of discussion, with the Minister emphasizing the need for robust policies to enhance national cybersecurity frameworks.

The meeting also touched on the “Youth for Climate Project,” an initiative launched by Italy and the UNDP, which provides funding for young people to develop projects in various sectors, including digital technology.

The Minister reiterated Ghana’s commitment to digital transformation and expressed enthusiasm for the potential partnership with Italy. The Italian delegation assured the Minister of their support and looked forward to exploring opportunities for cooperation.
