South Africa’s Industries Braces for Icasa’s New Service Charges

Icasa will increase telecom and tech sector service fees from April, impacting licensing, spectrum allocations, and regulatory costs for industry stakeholders.

South Africa’s communications regulator, ICASA, has announced  an implementation of revised service fees for telecommunications and technology companies starting 1 April 2025. The fees are as follows:

  • All administrative fees associated with Type Approval will be increased by 4.4% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).
  • All administrative fees associated with applications and registrations relating to Service Licences will be increased by 4.4% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).
  • All annual radio frequency spectrum licence fees will be increased by 4.4% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).
  • All registration, renewal and annual fees relating to Unreserved Postal Services will be increased by 4.4% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).
