Zimbabwe Launches Digital Skills Program to Train 1.5 Million Coders
Zimbabwe launched a national digital skills program to train 1.5 million coders, backed by a strategic partnership with the UAE.
In a landmark move towards digital transformation, the
Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services officially launched the Zimbabwe Digital Skills Program at the POTRAZ Head Office in Harare. The program is an initiative born out of a fruitful partnership between Zimbabwe and the Government of the United Arab Emirates under the Government Experience Exchange Program and is an attempt by the Government of Zimbabwe to train 1.5 million coders in essential skills such as Data Science Fundamentals, Programming fundamentals, Android Kotlin Developer Fundamentals, and AI fundamentals effectively laying the groundwork for a future-ready, tech-savvy Zimbabwean workforce.
Gracing the occasion was the Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs and representative of the Government Experience Exchange Program from the United Arab Emirates, Hon. Abdullar Lutah, who expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. He described the initiative as a strategic move to cultivate a generation of digitally empowered citizens — the very backbone of a thriving digital economy.

Also addressing delegates, the Guest of Honour and Minister of ICT, Postal & Courier Services, Hon. T.A. Mavetera, emphasized the spirit of collaboration that brought the project to life.
