Airtel Uganda launches new 4G mast in Rwemikoma, boosting digital access, job opportunities, and community ties in rural Uganda.

As part of its ongoing commitment to digital inclusion and nationwide connectivity, Airtel Uganda has officially launched new network masts in Rwemikoma, Kazo District. The initiative is part of a promise made in 2019 to improve 4G coverage across the country, enhancing access to fast internet, clear voice calls, and digital services such as mobile money.

Speaking at the launch, Wanjala Isaiah, Trade Marketing Manager – Growth Markets, emphasized the value Airtel places on its customers:

The community is at the heart of our success. That’s why we’re here on the ground—to connect with you directly and build a relationship that benefits us all.

– Wanjala Isaiah, Trade Marketing Manager – Growth Markets

The new infrastructure not only improves communication but also opens up financial and employment opportunities for the local population. Wanjala encouraged the community to take advantage of the improved network by adopting more Airtel services.

Mr. Sabiti Apolo, Police Officer in Charge of Rwemikoma, welcomed the development and assured the company of his support:

I’ve been an Airtel customer since 2007. You have my full support and assurance when it comes to the security of your network mast.

– Mr. Sabiti Apolo, Police Officer in Charge of Rwemikoma

The event was officially launched by Sam Rwakajara, Chairman LC3 of Rwemikoma, who commended Airtel for its role in empowering Ugandans:

Airtel has created many job opportunities and extended valuable financial services to our people. I want to sincerely thank the Airtel team for the service they continue to provide. It is my honor to officially launch this new site today.

– Sam Rwakajara, Chairman LC3, Rwemikoma

The launch also served as a reminder for digital safety. Customers were urged to remain vigilant and never share their mobile money PINs, no matter who calls.

This move by Airtel marks yet another milestone in bridging the digital divide, empowering rural communities, and fostering stronger partnerships on the ground.
