Over 1.2 million qualifying users will be able to purchase a 4G handset for a once-off price of R99, marking a major step in the company's digital inclusion strategy.

MTN South Africa has introduced a new initiative aimed at increasing digital access by offering affordable 4G smartphones to its prepaid customers.

Over 1.2 million qualifying users will be able to purchase a 4G handset for a once-off price of R99, marking a major step in the company’s digital inclusion strategy.

Customers can check their eligibility by dialling *142# and selecting the ‘gift’ option. The devices are available at the MTN store in Maponya Mall, Soweto, while stocks last. Terms and conditions apply.

For many, this is more than just a device. It’s a lifeline to opportunity — a way to stay connected with loved ones, to help children do their homework, to access critical services, and to be part of the digital economy.

As we move toward a future powered by 4G and 5G, we must make sure that no one is left behind.
This initiative reflects our commitment to real, inclusive digital access. It’s about dignity, empowerment, and ensuring that every South African — regardless of where they live — has a fair chance to participate in a connected society.

– Charles Molapisi, CEO, MTN South Africa
