NDPC and Mastercard held a DPIA workshop for 150 data officers and signed an MoU to deepen collaborative data protection efforts.

As a teaser to the forthcoming NADPA-RAPDP Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC ), in partnership with mastercard  organised a workshop on Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) for Data Protection Officers across both the public and private sectors. Also, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the NDPC and Mastercard .
In his opening remarks, the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, commended Mastercard for collaborating with the Commission on the workshop initiative. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity provided. He also stated that the MoU would further strengthen the partnership between both organisations and serve as a testament to the positive impact of doing business with Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of Mastercard, the Deputy Chief Privacy, AI & Data Responsibility Officer, Derek Ho, commended the NDPC for prioritising human capital development. He noted that the workshop provides participants with a practical understanding of how to conduct a DPIA, and stated that Mastercard is happy to continue working with the NDPC.
About 150 participants from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across Nigeria were selected to take part in the workshop.
