Zambia Launches SMART Office Workshop, Targets K400 Million Savings

Zambia launches SMART Office Workshop in Chilanga, aiming to save K400 million by enhancing service delivery and reducing paper costs.

The Government has marked a significant milestone with the official opening of the SMART Office Customisation Workshop in Chilanga District.
Speaking during the opening of the workshop, SMART Zambia ‘s National Coordinator, Mr. PERCY CHINYAMA, highlighted the progress made in digital transformation initiatives, emphasizing that the SMART office will help government save almost Four Hundred million Kwacha in stationery costs.
He added that technology is no longer a privilege, but a requirement for being efficient, competitive, and connected.
Mr. CHINYAMA urged stakeholders to take ownership of the SMART Office solution, stating,

We’re living in a time where technology is no longer a privilege but a requirement… this solution marks a shift in culture and mindset.

The biggest thing that we’re going to struggle with in this transformation is the fundamental change management… we have to re-engineer our mindset to allow us to use modern tools and provide excellent service.

Meanwhile, Project Manager of the SMART Office solution, Ms ANNIE DAKA, explained that the stakeholders submitted customisations and are eager to deploy the system in different government institutions.
The SMART Office Solution aims to:
– Enhance service delivery
– Cut costs associated with paper-based systems
– Address long-standing problems like missing files and misclassification of records
– Promote transparency and accountability
