Zamtel Boosts Chalala with High-Speed Connectivity in Major Network Upgrade
Zamtel launches network upgrade in Chalala, Lusaka, pledging faster internet, youth empowerment, and 1,400 new sites by 2029.

Zamtel has officially launched the first phase of its network upgrade in Chalala, Lusaka, aimed at delivering faster internet and enhanced connectivity to one of the city’s rapidly growing communities. The launch event was attended by Hon. Felix Mutati, Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, who emphasized the transformative impact of faster internet on national development, especially for small businesses, youth empowerment, and digital government.
During his address, Hon. Mutati introduced the S.P.E.E.D. concept—an acronym representing Small Business, Productivity, Enhanced Speed, Empowering the Youth, and Digital Government—highlighting how Zamtel’s enhanced connectivity will drive growth and efficiency across sectors.
Zamtel CEO, Jason Mwanza, expressed the company’s commitment to nationwide connectivity, unveiling the company’s 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, which includes the deployment of 1,400 new sites. Mwanza emphasized that Zamtel’s mission is to connect every Zambian to opportunity through innovation.
