Abia State Partners with MTN Nigeria for Digital Transformation

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has signed  a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MTN Nigeria, led by its Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Karl Toriola. The partnership aims to accelerate Abia’s digital transformation, enhancing governance, empowering youths, and driving socio-economic growth.

The agreement will ensure statewide 3G broadband access, cloud services for government operations, and a digital marketplace for Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia, and other areas. Civil servants will benefit from a device ownership scheme, while 4G and 5G coverage will expand in key cities.

MTN also launched the “Abia to the World Market Platform,” a free e-commerce platform for local merchants, providing online shops, logistics, and secure payments.

Top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, SSG, and Chief of Staff, attended the signing. This partnership aligns with Governor Otti’s vision of a smarter, more connected Abia.
