Ghana’s Minister Samuel George champions AI, blockchain, and a 24-hour economy at MEBSIS 2025, emphasizing inclusive digital transformation and growth.

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), yesterday took centre stage at the Premier Millennium Economic, Business & Social Impact Summit (MEBSIS 2025), at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi.
The event, themed “Sustainable Development Goals: A Vibrant Economy as a Catalyst for Transformation”, brought together business leaders, policymakers, investors and entrepreneurs from across sectors to collectively chart a path toward economic resilience and inclusive growth.
As part of the summit’s focus on Emerging Innovations & Technology, Hon. George joined a high-level panel discussion on the theme: “AI, Blockchain and the Future of Business – Digital Transformation Trends and Their Impact on Commerce and Finance.”
His contribution shed light on Ghana’s strategic approach to harnessing frontier technologies for national development.
In his remarks, the Minister underscored the Ministry’s commitment to positioning Ghana as a regional leader in digital innovation, stating, “We see AI and blockchain not just as tools, but as critical infrastructure for the future of commerce, governance and public service delivery. Our policies are designed to drive financial inclusion, catalyse job creation and prepare Ghana’s workforce for the digital age”.
Hon. George highlighted the importance of creating an enabling environment for digital transformation, through investments in smart infrastructure, regulatory reforms and inclusive digital literacy programmes.

In a separate session, the Minister also joined a panel discussing Ghana’s flagship 24-Hour Economy policy. He briefed participants on the government’s readiness to operationalise the initiative, which is aimed at expanding economic productivity beyond traditional working hours. “The 24-Hour Economy policy is no longer just a promise—it’s in motion. Ministries, businesses and local governments are aligning to activate its full potential”, he said, adding that it will open up new employment avenues and spur nationwide economic activity.
MEBSIS 2025 has been positioned as a transformative platform, with its overarching goal of aligning economic transformation with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The summit aims to ignite bold conversations on navigating technological disruptions, accelerating cross-sector partnerships and empowering youth and women in leadership and entrepreneurship.
Key objectives of the summit include:
1. Exploring how economies can thrive amidst technological shifts, climate challenges, and financial volatility;
2. Building partnerships between governments, corporations, financial institutions, and social enterprises to align profitability with sustainability;
3. Unlocking the role of business and entrepreneurship in job creation and innovation;
4. Advancing financial inclusion and digital infrastructure;
5. Promoting youth-driven innovation and social impact enterprises.
