South Sudan has officially joined the Smart Africa Trust Alliance (SATA ), becoming the 17th country to sign the landmark declaration aimed at advancing trusted digital services across the continent.
Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, South Sudan’s Minister of ICT & Postal Services , signed the SATA Declaration alongside Smart Africa CEO Lacina Koné, marking a significant step in the country’s digital transformation journey.
The move signals South Sudan’s commitment to fostering secure, interoperable, and people-centric digital ecosystems in line with the broader Smart Africa vision — to accelerate sustainable socio-economic development through ICT.
With this new signature, the SATA initiative strengthens its mandate to build a unified framework that promotes trusted connectivity and digital trust across member states. As Africa increasingly turns to digital technologies for economic growth, SATA serves as a critical foundation for harmonized policies on data protection, digital identity, and cross-border services.
