MTN Zambia and OXFAM Zambia Partner to Provide 500 Smartphones for Drought-Affected Beneficiaries
The initiative targets vulnerable recipients in Chilele Ward, many of whom previously lacked personal devices and had to share phones to access their monthly financial support.

As part of its 2025 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, MTN Zambia has partnered with OXFAM Zambia to distribute 500 smartphones to beneficiaries of the social cash transfer program in Kalabo district, a region severely affected by the 2023/2024 El Niño-induced drought.
The initiative targets vulnerable recipients in Chilele Ward, many of whom previously lacked personal devices and had to share phones to access their monthly financial support. The smartphones aim to improve access to digital financial services and emergency relief.
This support forms part of the El Niño Drought Induced Emergency Humanitarian Response, reinforcing MTN Zambia and OXFAM’s shared commitment to digital and financial inclusion in Zambia’s most underserved communities.
“this year we are focusing on Connecting at the Roots – and we shall implement activities in the remotest areas with the most vulnerable people as we provide access to digital tools, enhance digital financial inclusion and E-health through our partnership with Teledoctors Zambia.”
