Hon. Sam George Commends MTN Ghana, Pushes for Stronger Public-Private Collaboration

The Minister’s visit signals a proactive approach to engaging stakeholders in the digital ecosystem and driving coordinated efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position as a digital leader in the region.

Hon. Sam Nartey George, Ghana’s Minister of Communication, Digitization, Technology and Innovation, has commended MTN Ghana  for its remarkable growth and ongoing contributions to the country’s digital landscape during a recent visit to the company’s head office.

The visit, part of the Minister’s continued engagements with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) since his appointment, focused on strengthening public-private collaboration to enhance service delivery and foster innovation across the telecom sector.

In discussions with MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett and members of the Executive Committee, Hon. George outlined key priorities for his ministry, with a strong emphasis on improving customer experience, ensuring profitability, and delivering value for money to all Ghanaians. Among the critical goals shared was the streamlining of SIM registration and the implementation of a Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) by the third quarter of 2025.

MTN CEO Stephen Blewett reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the government’s digital transformation agenda and committed to investing in innovative solutions and allocating resources to drive continued sectoral growth.
