Zimbabwe Launches Digital Skills Initiative and Free WiFi Zone in Hwedza South
This newly established WiFi hotspot is expected to significantly boost educational opportunities and internet access for the local rural community.

The Minister of ICT, Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, led a significant event in Hwedza South, overseeing the certification of 195 digital skills graduates and launching a new free WiFi zone at St. Anne’s Goto School. This initiative falls under the President’s Internet Scheme program, aiming to expand digital access in rural areas.
The Minister highlighted the empowerment of youth through digital skills training.

This newly established WiFi hotspot is expected to significantly boost educational opportunities and internet access for the local rural community. The event also served as a platform to showcase Zimbabwe’s digital access solutions to a visiting delegation of Kenyan Members of Parliament, who were invited by Hon. Machakaire. In addition, the day included a graduation ceremony for 500 individuals who completed a skills development program, a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Tonganyika Trust, marking a successful multifaceted event.
