Zambia Deploys AI and Remote Diagnostics in 20 Facilities to Drive Nationwide Health Access

The Pilot is supported by the government of Finland and Paratus Zambia, the official distributor of Starlink.

The Ministry of Technology and Science, Zambia , has partnered with the Ministry of Health,  73 Health Global and Pentatech Ltd  to implement a country-wide pilot where remote health diagnostics and Artificial Intelligence-based pharmacological analysis tools will be tested in all the provinces of Zambia. The Pilot is supported by the government of Finland and Paratus  Zambia, the official distributor of Starlink.

The remote health diagnostic technology, invented by Finnish company 73Health Global, is already in use in Finland, China, and Canada. The Larry RX AI, developed in Zambia, is a tool for analysing drug-to-drug interactions and compliance to ensure the safe administration of drugs to patients. The pilot will test the use of these technologies in 20 different health posts across 10 provinces in Zambia.

73Health Global Board Chairman, Mr. Yaakko Seppälä, stated that the purpose of 73Health is to improve the lives of ordinary people and make healthcare more affordable and accessible. The company provides a service that leverages the latest technological advancements, generating cost savings. Doctors don’t need to be physically present; remote examination is fully enabled, and Artificial Intelligence helps ensure consistent and high-quality care. People in rural areas, low-income families, and vulnerable populations will have equal opportunities to receive care in time and take control of their health.

Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Finland to Zambia, Madam Saana Halinen, highlighted Finland’s global leadership in innovation and its ongoing involvement in development activities in Zambia. She noted that the long-standing partnership between Zambia and Finland has been particularly focused on private sector development and innovation, with several collaborative efforts alongside Honourable Minister Felix Mutati.

Finland is recognised as one of the world’s most innovative countries—not by chance, but as a result of long-term investment in education, research, and digital infrastructure. The country’s unique innovation ecosystem is built on close collaboration between universities, research institutions, start-ups, and the public sector, both nationally and internationally.

This information was shared with the media during a press briefing held at the Ministry of Technology and Science. The Minister of Technology and Science, Honourable Felix C. Mutati, reaffirmed that healthcare is a right—not a privilege—and must be accessible to every Zambian at an affordable cost.

He emphasised that access to the best health solutions, regardless of location or distance, is of utmost importance. Technology, he noted, enables us to do more with less—allowing one doctor to attend to multiple locations across Zambia simultaneously. It bridges the gap and helps determine the appropriate medicines for patients based on their conditions. He thanked the Government of Finland and underlined that the cooperation is focused on delivering practical, impactful results.
