Nigeria, China’s GalaxySpace Sign MoU to Advance Satellite Connectivity

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and Chinese satellite firm GalaxySpace have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at accelerating innovation and digital transformation across Nigeria and the African continent.
The partnership will focus on advancing satellite internet capabilities through the deployment of small satellite technologies, addressing connectivity gaps and powering socio-economic development.
Speaking at the signing, NASRDA Director-General Dr. Matthew Adepoju emphasized the urgency of the initiative, calling it “a critical national assignment” and stressing the need for swift implementation.
GalaxySpace Senior Manager Mr. Sam Xiao praised the rapid progress of the collaboration, stating his delight at the swift execution of the MoU and noting that the partnership positions Nigeria to “leverage first-mover advantages in the small satellite industry.”
The agreement underscores a shared commitment to harnessing space-based technologies for national development and regional digital inclusion, reinforcing Nigeria’s strategic role in Africa’s emerging digital economy.
