Mali Embraces Digital Innovation to Safeguard Children’s Rights
CPIMS+ provides a reliable and systematic digital infrastructure for managing sensitive child protection data while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols.

Mali has launched a major digital innovation in the field of child protection with the rollout of the Child Protection Information Management System Plus (CPIMS+), a modern data-driven platform designed to transform how vulnerable children are identified, supported, and monitored nationwide.
The new system brings secure, centralized, and digital case management to child protection actors, enabling real-time information sharing, automated referencing, and enhanced coordination across institutions. CPIMS+ provides a reliable and systematic digital infrastructure for managing sensitive child protection data while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols.
Developed with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Embassy in Mali , the platform marks a significant step toward using technology to strengthen institutional efficiency and improve services for children at risk.
“UNICEF is very hopeful that the effective deployment of CPIMS+ can contribute to strengthening the child protection system in Mali as a whole. We hope that all stakeholders measure fairly the importance of systematically using this tool to enable centralization and quality of data that depends on the credibility of the child protection sector.”
–Alassane Ouedraogo, UNICEF’s Interim Representative, Mali.
By digitizing case management, CPIMS+ ensures that child protection workers can securely access, update, and coordinate cases across Mali—from local to national levels—paving the way for more responsive, informed, and integrated interventions. It also reinforces Mali’s broader commitment to leveraging digital tools for social development and public service reform.
