Safaricom Ethiopia has relaunched its network expansion in Arbaminch City, reaffirming its commitment to both digital inclusion and social impact. Alongside the infrastructure rollout, the company has partnered with local NGO Mary Joy Ethiopia to support homeless elders and orphaned children in the region.
As part of this initiative, Safaricom Ethiopia is donating 500,000 Birr to help furnish a newly completed elderly care centre in Arbaminch. The funds will provide essential supplies such as mattresses and food, ensuring a more stable and dignified living environment for residents—many of whom have lost family members to HIV and other challenges.
“Together, we are building more than just a network; we are building community resilience, opportunity, and hope.”
-Wim Vanhelleputte, CEO, Safaricom Ethiopia
The event was attended by H.E. Demissie Admasu, Chief Administrator of the Gamo Zone, and Sister Zebider Zewdie, Founder and Executive Director of Mary Joy Ethiopia. Safaricom Ethiopia expressed its gratitude to both leaders and to the Gamo Zone Administration for their support and collaboration.
