The network provider emphasized that such acts are not merely an attack on the company, but a direct assault on the digital lives of all Malawians.

Airtel Malawi  has issued an urgent appeal to the public for assistance following a recent surge in deliberate acts of vandalism targeting its fiber optic network. The telecommunications giant reported a fresh incident on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, which disrupted local services.

On the same day, Airtel Malawi amplified its message through social media, stating that “Vandalism on our fibre network is an attack on all of us.” The company urged the public to protect the infrastructure that keeps them “learning, working, and connected.”

According to Airtel, these are not isolated events. The company experiences multiple fiber cuts every month, with a concerning trend indicating that these deliberate attacks are predominantly focused on Airtel’s infrastructure. The network provider emphasized that such acts are not merely an attack on the company, but a direct assault on the digital lives of all Malawians – impacting students pursuing online education, families striving to stay connected, businesses aiming for growth, and customers relying on digital services for daily life.

Airtel Malawi confirmed it is actively collaborating with law enforcement authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for these destructive acts. Recognizing the scale of the challenge, the company stressed that it cannot combat this issue alone and is offering a reward for any credible information that leads to the identification of the perpetrators.

The company urged all citizens to join hands in protecting the vital telecommunications lifeline that connects them all, reiterating the call to “Report what you know – We will reward credible leads.”
