SMART Zambia Rolls Out Digital Literacy Training for Healthcare Workers in Mansa

July 3, 2025
1 min read

The one-day training session aims to boost the digital capabilities of 23 doctors and support staff.

The SMART Zambia Institute,  through its e-Government Division in Luapula Province, has launched a targeted digital literacy training program for healthcare professionals at Mansa General Hospital. The one-day training session aims to boost the digital capabilities of 23 doctors and support staff.

The training focused on key areas essential for modern healthcare delivery, including cybersecurity awareness, use of the Government Service Bus (GSB) for efficient inter-agency data exchange, and Smartcare Pro, an electronic medical records platform designed to enhance service delivery in public health institutions.

This initiative is part of Zambia’s broader effort to digitize its health sector and ensure that medical professionals are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate digital systems effectively. By strengthening the digital proficiency of health workers, SMART Zambia is contributing to improved patient care, better data management, and progress toward Universal Health Coverage.

The program also addresses long-standing challenges, such as the underutilization of electronic medical records due to limited computer literacy among healthcare personnel. By empowering staff with practical digital skills, the initiative aims to close this gap and modernize healthcare service delivery across the region.
