NITDA, Japan Deepen Digital Cooperation to Boost Innovation and Skills Development in Nigeria

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Japan in the digital sector, with discussions centered on key areas such as technology innovation, digital skills development, and capacity building.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  has reaffirmed its commitment to international digital cooperation as its Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, hosted the Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria, SUZUKI Hideo, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Japan in the digital sector, with discussions centered on key areas such as technology innovation, digital skills development, and capacity building. Both parties highlighted the importance of fostering mutual cooperation to advance Nigeria’s digital economy and create new opportunities for investment and knowledge exchange.

This engagement aligns with NITDA’s strategic focus on building a globally competitive ICT ecosystem by forming international partnerships that can accelerate innovation and digital transformation. The collaboration is also expected to support initiatives that empower Nigeria’s tech workforce and drive inclusive, sustainable growth across sectors.

The visit further reinforces the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Japan, opening the door for joint projects and collaborative ventures aimed at unlocking the full potential of digital technologies for national development.
