MTN and Ericsson Reach Over 2,000 People with Pan-African Digital Education Campaign
The initiative focused on empowering youth, women, and marginalized groups through hands-on ICT learning, career mentorship, and upskilling workshops
In a collaborative push to expand digital inclusion across the continent, Ericsson and MTN have partnered on the 2025 Y’ello Care initiative, co-volunteering across four African countries to deliver digital education, skills training, and community support.
The initiative focused on empowering youth, women, and marginalized groups through hands-on ICT learning, career mentorship, and upskilling workshops—demonstrating the real-world impact of public–private partnerships in Africa’s digital development.
Working side-by-side, Ericsson and MTN teams supported local communities in:
-
Uganda: Delivering ICT skills training to high school students and contributing to environmental and health facility improvements.
-
South Africa: Engaging students in sessions on ICT evolution, online safety, and digital career pathways.
-
Benin: Training women and youth to use social media and digital tools to market local products, and assisting in building a community digital hub.
-
Rwanda: Introducing refugees to cloud computing, IoT, and AI through practical, real-world examples.
With 20 Ericsson volunteers directly supporting over 286 individuals, and reaching more than 1,700 community members in total, the initiative brought measurable impact to underserved regions.
Ericsson says this effort reflects its #AfricaInMotion vision—delivering progress through purpose-driven technology and partnerships that build capacity at the grassroots.
