Countries including Kenya, Algeria, and Ghana shared their experiences, while global partners such as the World Bank, ITU, and UNESCO pledged tools and technical support to accelerate implementation.
At the AI for Good Summit in Geneva, Smart Africa brought together representatives from over ten African governments to introduce a harmonised Model AI Policy Framework aimed at guiding the 70% of African nations yet to establish national AI strategies.
Countries including Kenya, Algeria, and Ghana shared their experiences, while global partners such as the World Bank , ITU , and UNESCO pledged tools and technical support to accelerate implementation.
The initiative marks a strategic push to strengthen African collaboration on AI governance. A Community of Practice will follow, fostering peer learning across the continent and reinforcing Africa’s role as a co-creator—not just a consumer—in the global AI ecosystem.
