SES Secures Final Approvals for $3.1 Billion Acquisition of Intelsat
This marks the final step in the approval process for the landmark $3.1 billion (€2.8 billion) transaction.

SES has announced that it has received all necessary regulatory approvals for its acquisition of Intelsat, including clearance from the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This marks the final step in the approval process for the landmark $3.1 billion (€2.8 billion) transaction.
Originally announced on 30 April 2024, the agreement outlines SES’s intention to acquire 100% of Intelsat in a cash deal aimed at strengthening SES’s position in global satellite communications. The transaction was contingent on receiving relevant regulatory clearances and fulfilling other closing conditions, all of which have now been satisfied.
SES has confirmed that it plans to close the transaction on or around Thursday, 17 July 2025. A follow-up press release will be issued to formally confirm the closing.
The acquisition is expected to create one of the world’s most comprehensive space-based networks, combining SES’s multi-orbit satellite capabilities with Intelsat’s strong presence in media and connectivity services.
