Beyon and SubCom Launch 800km Subsea Cable to Boost Gulf Connectivity
The new extension will connect Bahrain with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, strengthening digital infrastructure and enhancing regional data connectivity.
Beyon has announced the launch of Khaleej North, a new 800-kilometre submarine cable project aimed at expanding its existing Al Khaleej Cable system. The new extension will connect Bahrain with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, strengthening digital infrastructure and enhancing regional data connectivity.
The project, fully owned and operated by Beyon, will be developed in collaboration with global subsea cable provider SubCom, which is also responsible for delivering the original Al Khaleej system.
Khaleej North is designed to reinforce Bahrain’s position as a regional digital hub, complementing major global systems such as SEA-ME-WE 6, which links Bahrain to 14 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The extension will improve data traffic capacity, digital resilience, and cybersecurity, while also meeting the growing demands of hyperscalers, enterprises, cloud providers, and government institutions.
The agreement was officially signed during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, to the United States.
