Kenya and Huawei Graduates 400 Youth from Digital Training Program
This initiative, led by the Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy and implemented by the ICT Authority in partnership with Huawei Technologies, bridges the critical gap between academic learning and practical technical experience.
The Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP) 9th Cohort graduation was today held at the University of Nairobi bringing together 400 trainees who successfully completed a rigorous Huawei Training and Certification Program.
This initiative, led by the Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy and implemented by the ICT Authority in partnership with Huawei Technologies, bridges the critical gap between academic learning and practical technical experience.
During the ceremony, ICT and Digital Economy Principal Secretary Eng. John Tanui, accompanied by Mary Kerema, Secretary for ICT, E-Government and Digital Economy, and ICT Authority Acting CEO Zilpher Owiti, shared insights on the early successes and ongoing impact of the PDTP having trained over 3,300 youth since its inception in 2014.
PS Tanui emphasized that this cohort of graduates is entering the workforce at a crucial time for Kenya’s digital economy, as global demand for tech experts reaches an all-time high.
He encouraged the graduates to view themselves not merely as job seekers but as the generation destined to shape Kenya’s digital future — by creating innovative solutions, building startups, and competing in the global tech economy.
The Cohort exemplifies how investing in youth and cultivating tech skills like networking, cybersecurity, AI, and software development through strong public-private partnerships is accelerating Kenya’s digital transformation.
