Namibia’s CPBN Invests N$121M in Intelsat Deal to Ensure Broadcast Access for All

July 18, 2025
1 min read

This initiative supports Namibia’s broader agenda of digital inclusion and equitable access to information.

The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN)  has finalized a procurement agreement worth N$121 million with Intelsat Ventures for the provision of Direct-To-Home (DTH) Transmission Services on behalf of the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

The contract is set to significantly expand national broadcast reach, with the goal of achieving 100% television and radio coverage across Namibia. Currently, NBC’s television services cover 74.5% of the country, while radio coverage stands at 78%. The DTH rollout aims to close these gaps within six to seven months, ensuring universal access to broadcast services regardless of geographic location.

This initiative supports Namibia’s broader agenda of digital inclusion and equitable access to information. It also reflects CPBN’s role in advancing national development through transparent and efficient procurement processes that deliver high-impact public service outcomes.
