These newly activated Wi-Fi sites are part of an ambitious national objective to deploy 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots across Kenya.

The Kenyan government has taken another significant step in its nationwide digital transformation efforts with the official launch of free public Wi-Fi hotspots at Koibatek Agriculture Training College and Uzalendo High School in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County. The launch event was officiated by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei.

The ceremony, strategically timed during the Uzalendo Half Marathon, was also attended by key officials, including Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS, CBS, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy, and CPA Richard Koech, ICT Authority  Director of Corporate Services.

These newly activated Wi-Fi sites are part of an ambitious national objective to deploy 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots across Kenya. The initiative, spearheaded by the ICT Authority, is designed to actively bridge the digital divide and empower communities by providing accessible internet connectivity.

The expansion of public Wi-Fi is a cornerstone of Kenya’s broader strategy to enhance digital inclusion and foster socio-economic development through increased access to information and digital services.
