The initiative aligns with the Digital Zambia strategy, aimed at enhancing digital literacy and modernizing public service through technology.

The Luapula SMART Zambia  team, under the e-Government Division, conducted a digital skills training for non-technical officers in Mwense District on July 17, 2025. The session targeted officials from the District Commissioner’s Office and the Local Authority, aiming to strengthen their capacity to utilize government digital platforms for improved service delivery.

According to Samuel Banda, Principal Head of ICT, the workshop hosted 21 participants and was designed to provide foundational knowledge in key areas of ICT necessary for effective use of government digital systems.

“The training covered several critical modules, including Cybersecurity Awareness, which educated participants on protecting sensitive government data. Officers also learned Software and Hardware Troubleshooting techniques to resolve common technical issues independently. Another key focus was the Government Service Bus (GSB), an integrated platform that facilitates seamless service delivery across departments. Participants were also introduced to Shared Services, a framework that promotes resource efficiency, and Government IT Policies, ensuring compliance with national regulations.”

Mr. Banda further stated that the initiative aligns with the Digital Zambia strategy, aimed at enhancing digital literacy and modernizing public service through technology. He added that the e-Government Division plans to roll out similar programs in other districts within the province to ensure uniform ICT competency across the country.

Participants commended the training for its hands-on approach and direct relevance to their roles. The Luapula SMART Zambia team reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national efforts in achieving a fully digitized and efficient public sector.
