Airtel Zambia Joins Presidential Roundtable on Digital Economy

Airtel Zambia used the platform to highlight its continued investment in 4G and fibre infrastructure, especially in rural areas, and its partnership with UNICEF to connect schools to the Internet.

Airtel Networks Zambia Plc  has reaffirmed its commitment to national digital development following its participation in the inaugural Digital Economy Roundtable convened by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.

The engagement brought together key industry players from the ICT and telecommunications sectors to share insights, align strategies, and explore partnerships aimed at accelerating Zambia’s digital transformation. Airtel welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the national dialogue, reiterating its ongoing investment in digital infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive connectivity.

During the roundtable, President Hichilema emphasised the digital sector’s pivotal role as an enabler of economic growth and sustainable development. He highlighted the transformative potential of digital technologies in sectors such as healthcare and education—areas central to the government’s development agenda. He encouraged industry leaders to collaborate with government to ensure that all communities benefit from the country’s digital progress.

Airtel reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Zambia’s digital vision by continuing the expansion of its 4G and fibre networks, particularly in rural and underserved areas. The company also underscored its partnership with UNICEF  to connect schools to the Internet, contributing to education access and digital literacy.

The roundtable marked a significant step toward deeper public-private collaboration in building a robust, inclusive digital economy. As a leading player in the space, Airtel reiterated its dedication to innovating for impact, empowering communities, and supporting national development through accessible, affordable digital services.
