Maroc Telecom, Inwi, and Orange Secure 5G Licenses from ANRT in MAD 2.1 Billion Deal
The announcement follows the ANRT Board meeting held on July 25, 2025, during which the Head of Government validated the agency’s evaluation report on the competitive tender process.
Morocco’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) has officially awarded licenses for the establishment and operation of 5G mobile networks to the country’s three major telecom operators. The announcement follows the ANRT Board meeting held on July 25, 2025, during which the Head of Government validated the agency’s evaluation report on the competitive tender process.
The successful bidders are Itissalat Al-Maghrib (Maroc Telecom) , Médi Telecom (Orange Morocco) , and Wana Corporate (Inwi) . The evaluation, based on investment, coverage, and quality-of-service commitments, awarded scores of 87, 85, and 87 points respectively.
Under the terms of the license agreements:
- Maroc Telecom will acquire 120 MHz of spectrum for 900 million MAD.
- Médi Telecom will acquire 70 MHz for 600 million MAD.
- Wana Corporate will acquire 70 MHz for 600 million MAD.
Collectively, the operators have pledged approximately 80 billion MAD in investment and operating expenses through 2035 to deploy and maintain 5G infrastructure. Coverage targets require reaching 45% of the population by the end of 2026 and 85% by the end of 2030.
