SMART Zambia and MTN Join Forces to Enhance Connectivity and Digital Services

August 1, 2025

This collaboration aims to leverage technology to improve public services and expand connectivity, particularly for those living in rural areas.

SMART Zambia  is partnering with MTN Zambia  and MTN Group  to accelerate the country’s digital transformation. This collaboration aims to leverage technology to improve public services and expand connectivity, particularly for those living in rural areas. A key focus is on critical sectors like health, education, and agriculture, where enhanced digital infrastructure can lead to significant improvements in service delivery and efficiency.

The partnership also has a strong focus on strengthening Zambia’s digital identity and improving network services through the existing MTN service center network. A major component of the initiative is the expansion of “Project Diplomatique,” which seeks to bring government services closer to the people. By integrating banks and post offices as new service points, the program aims to alleviate pressure on existing, high-demand government facilities and scale up access to services nationwide.

To ensure the successful implementation of this vision, both parties have agreed to form dedicated execution teams. These teams will be responsible for translating the plans into tangible results. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to building a more innovative, connected, and inclusive Zambia for all its citizens.
