Specifically, this agreement will reduce interference between mobile networks of the two countries in this sensitive area, ensuring better coverage, greater call stability, and smoother Internet access for consumers.
The regulators of Gabon and Cameroon signed, on Monday, August 4, 2025, in Bitam, a strategic agreement on the coordination of radio frequencies in border areas.
This joint initiative between the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services of Gabon (ARCEP) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency of Cameroon (ART) aims to significantly improve the quality of electronic communications for populations living on both sides of the border, particularly in Bitam (Gabon) and the South Cameroon region.
Specifically, this agreement will reduce interference between mobile networks of the two countries in this sensitive area, ensuring better coverage, greater call stability, and smoother Internet access for consumers. Users will benefit from a more reliable communication experience, with optimized speeds and fewer dead zones.
The agreement will be signed by Célestin Kadjidja, Chairman of the Regulatory Council of ARCEP Gabon, and Prof. Philémon Zoo Zame, Director General of ART Cameroon, in the presence of local administrative authorities, including the Governor of Woleu-Ntem, Jules Djéki.
The Cameroonian delegation arrived in Bitam on Sunday, August 3, 2025, welcomed at the Meyo-Kyè border by Gabonese authorities. This partnership reflects the commitment of both states to make cross-border connectivity a driver of development and well-being for their respective populations.
