This new strategic blueprint is designed to position Nigeria as a leader in the digital age by building a resilient, secure, and future-ready digital nation.

Galaxy Backbone (GBB),  a government-owned digital infrastructure and services company, has launched its Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS) for 2025–2028. This new strategic blueprint is designed to position Nigeria as a leader in the digital age by building a resilient, secure, and future-ready digital nation. The strategy outlines how GBB will work with stakeholders to create an inclusive and interoperable digital ecosystem, aligning with both national and global aspirations.

The IDTS is built upon five strategic pillars to achieve transformational impact. The first pillar is a Resilient Digital Infrastructure, which involves expanding and modernizing Nigeria’s digital backbone, including the National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB), and deploying solar-powered base stations to ensure connectivity and energy efficiency. The second is Integrated Digital Ecosystems, focused on creating interoperable platforms like the Government Data Exchange (GDX) for seamless data sharing among ministries, departments, and agencies. The third pillar, Innovative Service Delivery, is centered on customer-centric service through AI-driven solutions and a unified Government Service Portal.

The final two pillars address digital security and financial health. Digital Leadership and Trust aims to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities and invest in upskilling public sector professionals. Financial Sustainability and Value Creation involves implementing innovative funding models and partnerships to ensure the long-term viability of GBB’s services. GBB is actively collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to align its goals with the Renewed Hope Agenda, and is also forging partnerships with global ICT and telecom developers.

The strategy also includes a renewed vision and mission for GBB: to become Nigeria’s leading enabler of innovative digital transformation and to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative digital solutions for government and businesses. The company is actively onboarding state governments onto its platforms to extend broadband to underserved areas, ensuring no region is left behind. GBB’s core values—Innovation, Passion for Excellence, Accountability, Customer-centricity, and Teamwork (I.P.A.C.T.)—are meant to guide this transformation and foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
