August 11, 2025
2 min read

The collaboration, discussed in a meeting on August 8, 2025, aims to modernize the nation's digital landscape and support economic growth.

The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation (MENDI)  of Gabon and Africa 50 , a pan-African infrastructure investment platform, have initiated a strategic partnership to accelerate Gabon’s digital transformation. The collaboration, discussed in a meeting on August 8, 2025, aims to modernize the nation’s digital landscape and support economic growth.

Key Areas of Collaboration

The partnership focuses on several critical areas to advance Gabon’s digital agenda. The two entities will work on deploying digital solutions to streamline and modernize public services and government administration. They will also support the digitization of payments, enhance digital education initiatives, and expand the national digital network.

On the infrastructure front, plans include integrating a sovereign cloud via Africa 50’s datacenter platform and strengthening the national fiber-optic network in collaboration with existing operators. The meeting also highlighted the need for increased energy production to support these new digital infrastructures.

Next Steps and Vision

Africa 50 commended Gabon’s digital strategy, particularly its move to consolidate fiber-optic infrastructure for improved efficiency and governance. The Ministry underscored the importance of structuring profitable investments to reduce the financial burden on the state while meeting citizen demand for better digital services. A technical working meeting is scheduled to further discuss targeted investments. MENDI stated its commitment to using digital technology as a key driver for modernizing the state, fostering economic growth, and improving services for the population.
