MACRA Launches Nationwide Cyber Drills to Boost Cybersecurity Skills in Malawi’s Academic Institutions
The initiative, led by MACRA’s Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (MwCERT), aims to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and enhance the technical capabilities of students and emerging ICT professionals.
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has kicked off its nationwide cyber drills tour at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Thyolo, targeting academic institutions across the country.
The initiative, led by MACRA’s Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (MwCERT) , aims to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and enhance the technical capabilities of students and emerging ICT professionals.
Head of MwCERT, Christopher Banda, said the drills are designed to prepare a competent, cyber-resilient generation capable of defending Malawi’s digital assets as they transition into the workforce.
MUST’s Head of Science and Information Technology commended MwCERT’s efforts, stressing the importance of equipping the public with knowledge on how to protect themselves from cyber fraud as digital technology adoption grows.
In addition to the drills, MACRA delivered a presentation on the role of the Data Protection Authority and shared information on opportunities available through the MUUNI Fund.
