If Globacom fails to comply with this requirement within the stipulated two-year period, it risks facing regulatory sanctions from the NCC.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)  has given Globacom  a 24-month deadline to appoint a separate Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from its chairman. This directive is part of the new “Guidelines on Corporate Governance for the Communications Industry ,” issued by the NCC in March 2025.

The new rule, which applies to all licensed telecommunications companies in Nigeria, requires that the positions of Board Chairman and CEO be held by separate individuals. This is intended to ensure proper checks and balances within the organization. If Globacom fails to comply with this requirement within the stipulated two-year period, it risks facing regulatory sanctions from the NCC.
