Airtel Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment at GenU 9ja Board Launch
On August 13, 2025, Airtel Nigeria joined UNICEF , national leaders, and private sector partners at the launch of the GenU 9ja Board, held at the State House in Abuja under the chairmanship of Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON.
GenU 9ja, launched in 2021 by UNICEF, is a national public-private, youth-focused partnership platform designed to support young Nigerians in transitioning from learning to earning. The initiative targets 20 million youths by 2030, offering connectivity and digital learning, soft and job-related skills, as well as livelihood opportunities in apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, and employment.
As a dedicated member of the board, Airtel Nigeria continues to champion digital inclusion for young people. Through its partnership with UNICEF in the Reimagine Education programme, the company has connected over 1,200 schools and 800,000 learners to free digital learning platforms, with plans to connect an additional 300 schools in 2025.
Airtel’s participation in GenU 9ja builds on these efforts, aiming to equip millions of Nigerian youths with the skills and opportunities required to thrive in the modern economy, contributing to the initiative’s 2030 vision.
