Ethio Telecom and Uganda Delegation Explore Strategic Partnership for Digital Empowerment

Both sides expressed confidence that such collaboration could support Uganda’s Vision 2040 and drive smart urban development in Kampala.

Ethio Telecom  has hosted a high-level Ugandan delegation led by Hon. Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, to discuss potential collaboration in advancing digital empowerment.

The visit highlighted Ethio Telecom’s technological innovations in areas such as smart cities, smart agriculture, smart mining, and smart education. The delegation toured the company’s experience center, data center, smart city initiatives, and Ethiopia’s first electric vehicle charging station.

Ethio Telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamru reaffirmed the company’s commitment to human-centred digital transformation, with a focus on boosting productivity, creating jobs, and delivering long-term value. She called for pan-African collaboration to transform challenges into opportunities, harness technology, and build an inclusive, connected, and competitive continent.

Talks explored partnership opportunities in smart city solutions, digital payment platforms, telecom and digital infrastructure development, capacity building, and knowledge exchange. Both sides expressed confidence that such collaboration could support Uganda’s Vision 2040 and drive smart urban development in Kampala.
