Ghana Begins Preparations for Girls-In-ICT Programme in Upper West Region
The initiative, which has already trained thousands of girls across Ghana, is set to expand its reach and continue its mission to bridge the gender digital divide.
The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has announced the start of preparations for the rollout of its flagship Girls-In-ICT Programme in the Upper West Region. The initiative, which has already trained thousands of girls across Ghana, is set to expand its reach and continue its mission to bridge the gender digital divide.
An inception meeting is scheduled for today, Monday, August 18, 2025, to bring together key stakeholders. These include the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE), and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). The meeting will focus on developing strategies, setting timelines, and finalizing logistical arrangements for the successful implementation of the program.
The Girls-In-ICT Programme aims to equip young girls with essential digital skills and inspire them to pursue careers in the technology sector. The expansion to the Upper West Region is part of the Ministry’s ongoing effort to empower young women with the knowledge and confidence needed to participate fully in Ghana’s growing digital economy.
