The meeting focused on flagship initiatives including the Digital Superhighway, the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project, and the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Program.

The ICT Authority  convened a sensitization workshop on Friday at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, bringing together its leadership, the Project Implementation Team, and ICT officers from all 47 counties. The meeting focused on flagship initiatives including the Digital Superhighway, the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project, and the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Program.

Board Chairperson Hon. Lilly C. Ng’ok encouraged the county and regional ICT officers, described as digital ambassadors, to act as the Authority’s eyes and ears on the ground. She urged them to provide regular feedback from communities to ensure the digital shift delivers practical benefits.

“Bring us the grassroots view and flag where digital transformation can make things easier. Keep the feedback clear and regular so we can act quickly and turn improvements into everyday benefits.”

-Hon. Lilly C. Ng’ok, Board Chairperson, ICT Authority

Acting CEO Zilpher Owiti praised the officers for surpassing many of the Authority’s targets, crediting their collective effort and resilience.

“Our key metrics show a positive trend, and stakeholder feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve successfully navigated challenges and emerged stronger.”

– Zilpher Owiti, Acting CEO, ICT Authority

Discussions at the workshop covered infrastructure development, digital skills, risk management, human resources, and maintenance support. The sessions underscored the importance of collaboration between national and county teams to strengthen service delivery and accelerate Kenya’s digital economy.

Director of Programmes and Standards, Bwaley Thomas, closed the meeting by highlighting the central role of people in the transformation process.

“Successful transformation is driven by people, fostering strong relationships across teams to build trust, enhance understanding, and inspire innovation.”

– Bwaley Thomas, Director of Programmes and Standards, ICT Authority

The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to champion the ICT Authority’s mandate in their regions. The Authority reaffirmed its mission to ensure inclusivity in the digital journey, pledging that no county will be left behind as Kenya advances its digital transformation agenda.
