During the meeting, Dr. Al-Aboudi directed the completion of procedures related to privileges for students of the College of Excellence.

Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research,  Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi, chaired a high-level committee meeting to review the final preparations for the launch of the College of Excellence and the College of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad, scheduled to open in early September.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Aboudi directed the completion of procedures related to privileges for students of the College of Excellence. These include admission pathways to graduate programs, priority access to scholarship opportunities, and a monthly stipend of 200,000 dinars to support students academically and encourage excellence.

The Minister confirmed that the committee reviewed progress on the College of Artificial Intelligence, which will feature departments focused on engineering applications, bio-applications, and big data. The discussion also covered the faculty map, ensuring that specialized professors are in place for both undergraduate and graduate teaching programs.

Highlighting the broader vision, Dr. Al-Aboudi stressed the strategic importance of the College of Excellence and its diverse specializations in applied information systems, data science, e-business management, accounting and banking, philosophy, and sociology.

He added that the initiative represents the nucleus of the University of Excellence project, designed to strengthen Iraq’s knowledge economy, foster innovation, and graduate professionals capable of competing on both regional and international levels.
