ICDL Africa, a leading provider of globally recognized digital skills certification, has been working with the Ministry to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusion.

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has announced a major milestone in its partnership with ICDL Africa, with more than 1,230 refugees trained in internationally recognized digital skills under the Digital Skilling for Refugees Program.
ICDL Africa, a leading provider of globally recognized digital skills certification, has been working with the Ministry to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusion. Through the programme, participants received practical training in Computer Essentials, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and Web Editing, equipping them with competencies for employment, entrepreneurship, and community development.
The training has been rolled out across several regions including Arua, Koboko, Kiryandongo, and Kampala. Beyond refugee learners, the initiative has also upskilled 48 ICT teachers, supported 137 refugee-run businesses, and enhanced the capacity of Government Communication Officers across ministries, departments, and agencies.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, highlighted the importance of inclusivity in Uganda’s digital journey. “
Training refugees alongside host communities is proof that our vision for a digitally skilled Uganda is becoming a reality.”
