Kenya Expands Digital Super Highway in Kericho and Bomet Counties
According to the ICT Authority, an additional 275 sites in the two counties are scheduled to be connected in 2025, further boosting access to digital services and opportunities.
The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, through the ICT Authority, has connected 135 institutions to the internet in Kericho and Bomet counties under the government’s Digital Super Highway Project.
According to the ICT Authority, an additional 275 sites in the two counties are scheduled to be connected in 2025, further boosting access to digital services and opportunities.
The initiative, part of Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda, aims to enhance connectivity for learning institutions, public offices and communities, enabling greater access to information, innovation, and economic empowerment.
In Kericho County, 101 sites have already been connected, with 164 more planned, while in Bomet County, 34 sites are connected and 111 are set for connection.
Officials said the rollout will play a crucial role in bridging the digital divide, fostering inclusion, and ensuring residents in the two counties can take advantage of emerging technologies and services.
